About Heartland B-cycle

Heartland B-cycle is the Greater Omaha Metro Area’s bike sharing system and has been incubated by Live Well Omaha for the past five years. Presently they have 152 B-cycles at 31 B-stations located throughout Council Bluffs and Omaha.

Description of Position

Heartland B-cycle is looking for a seasonal weekend field technician starting around May 1st and running through Oct 15th.  Position will work ten hours a week Saturday and Sunday from 7:00am to 1:00pm with the opportunity for occasional extra work around major events. Hourly pay will be $10-12/hour based on experience. 

Key Aspects of the Position

  • Drives a vehicle with trailer to redistribute bikes as required based on real-time demand data.
  • Performs basic maintenance checks on bikes on a routine basis.
  • Addresses and logs bike status, system events and rebalancing data as instructed.
  • Evaluates bike condition and repairs bikes as needed.
  • Inspects bike stations for safety, operability and cleanliness.
  • Troubleshoots stations to ensure station operability.
  • Works with Operations Coordinator to ensure timely and productive workflows.
  • Respond to requests from your manager(s).
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and compliant workplace.
  • Ensure that all necessary reporting is accurate, complete and timely.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Valid Driver’s License and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Adaptability – enthusiastically adapt to changes in the work environment.
  • Dependability - Follow instructions; respond to management direction; communicate frequently; solicit feedback to improve performance.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Passion for bikes, efficiency and sustainability.
  • This position may require bending, stooping, lifting up to 50 pounds.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience driving trailers in an urban environment.
  • Knowledge of geography/street layout in Omaha metro area.
  • Professional bicycle repair experience.
